So. I’ve gone close to two years without posting here. Maybe I’ve lost my taste for posting since my Livejournal and tumblr days, or maybe I’m just straight up bad at it now. Yeah, probably the latter. Not that I’ve ever necessarily been good at it. I’ve had a reminder to make an update here that I’ve been ignoring for oooooh, maybe five or six months now? Possibly longer? Well, here I am!

Quick update on what I’ve been up to in the last two years:

First off, I got really into crochet. I mean REALLY into crochet. It was basically what I did with pretty much every second of my free time for a good year and a half. I originally tried to pick it up a little over a decade ago, but it didn’t quite take. I was really really bad it then. I decided to try picking it up again for 2025 and boy did it take this time! That’s slowed down a little bit as of late, but I’ve been making a lot of coasters for my plants the past week or so.

Speaking of, I’ve also revived my interest in houseplants after uuuuh killing off about 90% of the ones I had through neglect… yikes… But I’ve decided to embrace propagation and experimentation this time around. And keeping them in spots that are more accessible so I don’t skip watering them for months on end. Maybe I’ll start making posts about my plant children. Hmm…

Things have been going well at work. I’m in a new position that I’m very happy about. Like, once upon a time I wrote in hopes of one day being a full time published author. Now I have a day job that I love and don’t foresee leaving, and I’m planning on heading back to school for my MLIS once I can figure all that out. Not that I want to stop writing altogether. I just have different priorities when it comes to my creative life and my professional goals. Like, I have zero plans to try and get traditionally published. I just want to write my stories and post them here as my way of getting them out into the ether.

That said, my writing has fallen to the wayside as of late. Ha, well, for some years at this point. And I don’t know if it’s because we’ve entered the month formerly known as NaNoWriMo, but the itch to write has taken me on and off for the last few months. I intend to scratch that itch. It’s just a matter of actually doing it. I want to make BvtW work this time. I just wasn’t happy with how flat the writing was in the chapters I’d posted. I’ve also been drawn to another writing project that I’m not sure I’ve ever mentioned here, so those two will likely be my focus once I take the plunge.

Other creative pursuits I want to focus on in the coming year? I want to make more dress up games! I had every intention of making the Halloween dolls a yearly tradition, but that too fell by the wayside. I may start picking away at one that isn’t tied to any season or anything as a way to dip my toes back into both drawing and coding. I’d also love to make more short comics. Oh, and I have another project I really want to start on, but I won’t get into that one right now. It’s a bit ambitious. All I’ll say is that it’ll likely find its home on Youtube.

Feels good to get all this out. Not sure what my next post will be about. Maybe if I hop on some kind of drafting challenge I can write up a little something about that. I’d also like to share my crochet and embroidery/stitching projects. Get more art up here! Or I can document my chopped spider plant’s progress (I’ve dubbed her Stumpy and she has a single leaf that’s coming in beautifully so far).
